Hieratic Writing System
Writing on papyrus led to a cursive script, called Hieratic. The image below is one of the oldest surviving documents in the medium papyrus.
Dated: 1600 BC
To match the swiftness of writing the symbols took on another form.
Papyrus also led to the secularization of writing (i.e., not only practiced by scholars).
